Prof.Dr. Rodica Stoian

Rodica STOIAN is a professor for Information and Coding Theory, and the coordinator of Information Transmission in Wireless Networks and Sensor Networks Group. She received M.Sc. (1966) and PhD (1985), degrees in electronics and telecommunications from the Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest. After five years experience in R&D Institute and ten years assistant professor and lecturer in the National Institute for Teachers Training, she joined the Department for Applied Electronics and Information Engineering, Politehnica University of Bucharest. His teaching activity includes courses in the area of Theory of Information Transmission, Decision and Estimation in Information Processing, Multimedia Communication Systems, Information Transmission in Wireless Networks and Sensor Networks. She developed new laboratories for Multimedia Communications Systems (2005), Digital Transmission of Information (2008), Automatic Testing of Equipments and Processes (2009), Transmission of Information in Wireless Networks (2009). She was coordinator for more than 12 research projects. Her research interests are focused in the area of Coding Theory (array codes, iterative decoding techniques, turbo codes) and Information Transmission in Networks (MIMO systems, random linear network coding, distributed coding in wireless sensor networks). In the recent years her research activities were focused on development of source, channel and network coding algorithms applied in sensor networks. Professor Stoian is author/co-author of more than 80 refereed articles or papers and she is author and coordinator/co-author of 11 books.
