Prof.Dr. Vasile Lăzărescu
Vasile N. LAZARESCU (M ‘95) received the M.Sc. degree and the Ph.D. degree in electronics and telecommunication from the “Politehnica” University of Bucharest (PUB), Romania, in 1970 and 1983, respectively. After five years experience in industry he joined Department for Applied Electronics and Information Engineering, “Politehnica” University of Bucharest, where he was an Assistant Professor, became an Associate Professor in 1990, and a Professor in 1996. Is retired in 2012. He is currently Professor Emeritus in the Department of Applied Electronics and Information Technology, Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunication, “Politehnica” University of Bucharest. His teaching activity includes courses in the area of digital signal processing, microprocessors architecture and applications, embedded systems and multimedia systems. He has developed a new laboratory teaching and research purposes. Main research interests are focused on systems and algorithms design for signal processing, computational intelligence, data acquisition and processing, real-time software design. He was coordinator for more than 15 research projects for industrial partners. In the recent years his research activities were focused on development of earth observation data processing algorithms and sensor networks design an applications. Professor Lazarescu is author/co-author of more than 120 refereed articles or papers and he is editor/co-editor of 13 books. In 2004 prof.dr. Vasile Lazarescu has received the Romanian Academy Award. He is also an electronics and telecommunications expert with the Ministry of Justice.
