Ioan Tache (research) received the M.S. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University Politehnica of Bucharest UPB, Romania, in 1984 and the Ph.D. degree in Electronics and Telecommunications from the University Politehnica of Bucharest UPB in 1995. He holds an assistant professor position in broadcasting and television Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ETTI) in UPB. His main field of expertise is in broadcasting and television, satellite communications, video signal processing and video quality assessment. He has elaborated over 37 scientific papers, 4 textbooks in the field of Television and Satellite Communications. He has a strong relationship with industry. He has participated as a member of the research team in 16 national and European projects. He was involved in 2 projects with Romanian Space Agency (ROSA) included one grant with Romanian Space Agency as a project manager (SVIQUALTES) and in 2 projects (ROKEO, OSIRIDE) with European Space Agency (ESA). He is member in the technical team of TV Sigma, the HDTV broadcasting station owned and operated by University Politehnica Bucharest. Since 2006 he is President of Technical Committee TC 375 – Audio, Video and Multimedia Systems at Romanian Standardization Association (ASRO).He acts as a Reviewer for the IEEE Communications Letters.
