Prof.Dr. Nicolae Drăgulănescu

Photo DragulanescuProf. Dr. Nicolae-George DRĂGULĂNESCU (research) is a Professor of Information Science and Technology within the Department of Applied Electronics and Information Engineering, Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology (ETTI), of University Polytechnics of Bucharest, Romania. He received his M.Sc. (1970) and Ph.D. (1991) degrees - both in Electronics field - from the former Polytechnic Institute of Bucharest, Romania (IPB, since 1990 - University Polytechnics of Bucharest, UPB). After graduation, during 6 years (1970-1976), he was employed as Manufacturing/Test/Quality/Maintenance/Applications Electronics Engineer - within the Company IEMI (Industrial Electronic and Measuring Instruments) of Bucharest. In 1976, he joined the former IPB’s Chair of Applied Electronics (today – UPB’s Department for Applied Electronics and Information Engineering), within the former Faculty of Electronics and Telecommunications (today - Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Information Technology). He earned, in 1994, a Master’s Degree in Quality Management (at Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris, ESCP / France) and, in 1998, a second doctorate/ Ph.D. (in Letters and Sciences) (at University Paris X, Nanterre / France). During years 2000-2001, he was a Fulbright Scholar within the University of Pittsburgh, School of Library and Information Science, USA. He has lectured (in French and English) - as Visiting Professor or Fulbright Scholar - in some universities of Algeria (INTTIC, ex ITO, 1977-1981), France (INT, IRESTE, ENSEA, 1994 - 2012), USA (SLIS, Pittsburgh, 2001) and South-Korea (Chung-Ang University, Seul, 2008). His teaching and researching activities included (and/ or are including): Information Science, Information Technology, Data Mining, Quality Management, Quality Assurance, Reliability, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Industrial Electronics, Consumer Electronics. He developed new laboratories – for disciplines „Sound and Image Recording/ Playing Techniques” (1985) and „Information Science Fundamentals” (2003). Prof. Dr. DRĂGULĂNESCU is author/ co-author of over 100 scientific articles/papers and the author/coordinator/co-author of over 70 books/textbooks/technical books.
